In the northern Finnish city of Oulu, you’ll find the dental practice PlusTerveys, where dentist Markku Lohvansuu has worked for more than 35 years.
Markku is a well-known face in the local community and has spent decades in the same treatment room. Today, the practice is part of the PlusTerveys group, but Markku has maintained his personal approach to his work and places high demands on functionality, ergonomics, and equipment.
“I’m 63 years old and expect to work for another five to seven years. For me, it’s not about frequently changing equipment, but choosing something that works for a long time,” says Markku.
Focus on reliability and durability
Markku takes a long-term view of his investments, both privately and professionally. For him, it’s about choosing quality that lasts, rather than replacing things often.
“I don’t constantly buy new. I choose something proper – and use it for many years. That applies to both my dental unit and my car.” That’s why Markku works with a HEKA UnicLine S, which meets his requirements for robustness and day-to-day stability.
A key reason for choosing HEKA was the ability to customize the unit to fit his exact needs. He wanted three suction hoses, six instruments on the delivery tray, and an integrated screen – and only HEKA could deliver that. “It was the only unit on the market where I could get exactly what I wanted.”
The combination of flexibility and functionality gives Markku the ideal workspace without compromise. He also places great emphasis on the technical aspects of his equipment, particularly appreciating the aluminium-based construction, which conveys a sense of solid quality.
“I don’t like plastic. The aluminium structure is solid and reliable, and you can work precisely and effortlessly,” Markku says.
Service and partnership with Hammasväline
Another key part of the decision was the close cooperation with Hammasväline, HEKA’s distributor in Finland. For Markku, fast and competent service is essential – both for the unit and other technical installations.
“It’s important to get help quickly. When your livelihood depends on your equipment, downtime must be kept to a minimum,” he explains.
With a local service partner close to the practice, Markku has the peace of mind he needs to focus fully on his patients.
