AniCura Tranbjerg Animal Hospital is one of Denmark’s largest veterinary hospitals, welcoming patients from across East Jutland. The practice focuses on safe, professional treatment with animal welfare at the heart of everything they do. With modern facilities and strong clinical expertise, they also offer dental treatment for dogs and cats.
In recent years, AniCura Tranbjerg has experienced a rise in the number of dental procedures, creating a need for increased capacity and more modern equipment. The hospital has a dedicated dental team consisting of veterinary nurses Lisette and Louise, as well as veterinarians Signe and Camilla.
The process typically begins with Lisette or Louise, who handle the dental cleaning, periodontal pocket measurements and dental X-rays. They carry out the overall assessment and prepare the treatment plan for the owners. When treatments such as extractions or fillings are required, the veterinarians take over.
Due to the high demand, the hospital often experiences waiting times of four to six weeks. This contributed to the decision to invest in two new HEKA I units, positioned side by side. “We usually run two stations every day,” Lisette explains. “On one station either Louise or I work, and on the other a vet carries out the treatments.” This structure allows the team to maintain a steady flow throughout the day, often operating both stations simultaneously.
Compared with their previous equipment, the team has noticed several clear improvements. Lisette highlights the scaler light, which makes a significant difference: “You can orient yourself so much better.” The probes have also been substantially improved, providing better access to deeper periodontal pockets.
Ergonomics play a major role in their daily work, and here the HEKA I units have proven highly beneficial. “Before, we had a hose hanging down by the hand, which you constantly had to counter-twist,” Lisette explains. “Now, with over-the-patient instruments and springs, you don’t experience the same strain.”
Lisette also notes that the unit’s arm is easy to swing and simple to adjust in height, making it possible to find a correct working position without moving tables or other equipment around.
Before deciding on new units, the practice had visited several suppliers. They ultimately chose HEKA following guidance from VetNordic. “We definitely felt we received the best advice,” Lisette says, which made the decision feel safe. According to her, the new HEKA I units fully live up to what the team had hoped for: “I do think they do. Absolutely.”
